Abby, a career teacher, first came to Tanzania to teach in a local primary school in 2014, and after a couple weeks of adjusting to the many differences, she quickly fell in love with the culture. Upon returning to Chicago, Abby continued to teach, but also continued to travel back to East Africa, continuing to develop relationships and learning about fair trade, economic empowerment, and the artisan sector. The wheels began to turn for Abby about the possibility of combining her love for fashion, passion for fighting injustice, and background in education into one endeavor. After working with artisans for a couple of years, Abby launched ABBY ALLEY in 2018, a brand with high quality fashion accessories that are both timeless and fashion forward. All of our products are handcrafted using materials that are locally and ethically sourced.
